WLCI Internship Final Week

I learned a lot of things from this internship at out Radio Station, WLCI 97.5. One of my main responsibilities was to crate content for the radio in the form of videos. Video editing was one of my main responsibilities. When the video were done we would upload them to our website so that everyone could see them. I learned quite a bit from the world if video thanks to this internship. I realized that sometimes, video and music are so tightly connected. When I started this internship I didn't…See More

Evergroove Studio Internship Final Week

This week at evergroove definitely topped them all. Running the live recording rig at Mile High Parlay over the weekend was an amazing experience in itself. It was very interesting to be a part of all the planning that goes into such an event as well. not only was I running the recording rig but I was also setting up tents hauling gear and at the end of the event I assisted with tearing down the stage which is an experience that I've never had before. all in all I had a great time doing it and…See More

Internshipping Final Week

I finished up my internship hours this weekend at Bocca Live, officially wrapping up 75 hours of hands-on experience working one-on-one with the club's audio engineers. During my time at the club as an official audio intern, I was responsible for assisting with any and all of the various tasks that arise for an audio engineer over any given period of time. First and foremost, this included residing over the soundboard, a task that my time at HC School of Music helped to prepare me for. Like any…See More

WLCI Internship Week 5 & 6

Last week the Keith fest took place at The Union, Athens, OH. A group of people from WLCI (me included) were there in order to help organize this. At first our main responsibility was to receive artists and load their equipment swiftly. After that our job was to shoot the whole thing. Events like these helps me to learn a lot from video recording. How to get neat shots, lighting issues, basic rules that need to be follow, and others. I'm finding myself more and more interested on this video…See More

WLCI INternship Week 6

This week was simply about pumping out 80's radio shows.  I was able to have 3 total completed by the end of class this week.  I will have at least a fourth if not a fifth done by the start of class next week. With a streamlined method of making radio shows, they really can be completed pretty efficiently.See More

4th Week at Earthwork Recording (Internship)

This week, a lot of time was put into the Moonlight Sessions. This is where my knowledge of online promotion and Photoshop came in handy. Between logo creation, final hours being decided, and the Facebook page creation it was a busy week. If you wanted to take a look at our Facebook page, you can find it here.

I also spent some time in the studio mixing recent Singer Spotlight sessions. These sessions…

3rd Week at Earthwork Recording (Internship)

This week, I was fortunate enough to sit in with the head engineer, Brandon, while he mixed a current clients songs. I was able to check out his favorite preamps and external mixing hardware, as well as how he mixes in the box (digitally, or inside Protools [or another DAW]). I always appreciate the chance to watch the process of another engineer, especially one as talented as Brandon.

I also had a chance to work with Reese, Earthwork's videographer, by filming Caleb Swick's…

2nd Week at Earthwork Recording (Internship)

One of Earthwork's radio shows, called Country Uncovered, is a classic country radio station where the songwriters and other important "Behind the Scenes" people involved in the music industry are interviewed and asked to their share their favorite stories and advice. When I arrived at Earthwork, they had already interviewed several different songwriters but had no way of documenting them.

I was tasked with documenting and researching the songwriters they had covered,…

1st Week at Earthwork Recording (Internship)

For my first week at Earthwork Recording, we spent a lot time discussing future plans for the studios involvement in radio shows/commercials and also my involvement in the future of Earthwork. The studio has only ever been open 9-5 due to their current engineers schedule, so they discussed the possibility of starting "Moonlight Sessions" which would cut their regular tracking cost in half by allowing bands to track between 6pm and 2am.

We also spent time putting together the…
