Volunteering at Hoopla in the Hills

I volunteered some of my time over the past two weeks to help out with the Hoopla in the Hills music festival in Athens. It was a rewarding experience in which I traded hard work for an opportunity to establish new connections in the business, as well as get into the show for free.As a volunteer, I worked directly under the supervision of the CEO of Big Events Presents, the promotions company responsible for organizing the event. I have actually worked under the CEO as a volunteer at the…See More

New Responsibilities at Casa

It's the last day of Spring Break and I'm gearing up my my final weeks here at Hocking College School of Music. As of now, I am finishing up recording on a 10-song demo EP with an artist from Athens that began as a side project last semester. Additionally, I've been working with other bands, as well as promoters, mainly helping to organize and book shows in my hometown of Cincinnati. At Casa Nueva, for my internship, I've been given a promotion of sorts. Tuesday I had a meeting with the booking…See More

While, focusing on photography this week I felt like I was a lot more in my element. I've had some experience with photography and editing photos. We experimented for this photoshoot by going to a bunch of different locations and shooting from different angles. We were trying to find places that we thought would transfer well in…See More

Pictures, pictures, pictures....

As part of an assignment for my Interactive Multimedia class, I will talk about a few photos that I've either taken or edited, and how I got them to look the way they do. Keep in mind that I have little to no experience with photography, and I doubt I'll be able to explain these processes in any type of professional way, but here it goes...…See More

Album Cover

this is a photo of a friend of mines pug, his name is Reggie. Obviously the mustache and party hat are added I did that because I thought the picture needed to be whimsical to an extent. as far as effects I did on the photo I kind of just played around until I thought it looked good. I picked this photo for no other reason other than the fact that it was a pug wearing head phones and if there is one thing funnier than a pug it's a pug wearing headphones especially when it looks like he's really…See More

New Posters

I've been hard at work designing concert posters since I started interning at Casa Nueva.  The booking coordinator sent me requests for shows through March. The posters usually take around 3 hours to put together. Attached below you will find the posters I've made since my last blog entry. I was scheduled to meet with the marketing coordinator this week to discuss social media strategies but the meeting got postponed due to renovations at the bar. We rescheduled for this week. The plan is to…See More

This is an older picture but I feel like it matches the assignment extremely well. This was taken at the Hocking College Outdoor Festival. It is a picture from when I met former WWE wrestler and hunting enthusiast, Shawn Micheals.  First, the timing of the photo could not be much more perfect. It was relatively…See More

Photography

I thought that the environment for this photo was great, taking pictures in nature and around nature has always been my favourite place to do so. I think that the coolness of the greys, and the bland brown of the leaves brings out the red in both the shoes and hat. The original you can see the colour blending a lot more but I took this in iPhoto and made the colour a bit dimmer, and upped the brightness. The positioning for this was great as well in my opinion because it gets a full body shot…See More

The process that went into taking this picture was searching for the right natural sunlight. in class we talk about using natural light vs artificial light. I learned that using natural light is a greater advantage in picture taking because it makes the picture look richer in color. At the time I was taking photos, It was a shaded…See More

Photo Assignment

The photo I am most proud of is of Brant Hysell pounding the ivory's in Studio A. I chose to take it from an above angle. I used the rule of thirds and positioned Brant to the left. I Had to turn many of the lights away from the piano to reduce glare. See More

Tree and Shadows

For Interactive Multimedia I found myself taking pictures of trees and buildings. This photo is the one I like the most, as I think of all the ones I took that day, it turned out the best. I thought the sunlight would be a problem as I took the picture, as it was shining directly to my left. Instead of standing on the other side of the tree and facing the sun, I looked skyward through the branches. This way the tree was not entirely shadowed. The shadows decorated the branches in spidery,…See More

Photography Assignment - Jack Minor

This is the photo that I feel turned out the best from the photos that we took.  After attempting to achieve good light outside, we decided to go inside to see if we could find any area with good light.  The florescent lights in the hallway did not provide ample light, as expected.  However after venturing back to Studio B, we…See More

Photography Assignment

I really like the photo I took of Mackenzie in front of a old house here in town.  I added just a simple filter to give it a more vintage feel since the house is old. I also used the rule of thirds.  Also they pillars of the house frame her. A few things I love about this photo is that it looks effortless, not so staged.  She looks really natural and comfortable.  Her smile also adds more beauty to the photo! I really love this photo and that is why I chose to use it for my album cover instead…See More

Album cover project

This is a picture I am using for my album cover project. The day this was taken was vary cold and sunny. It was hard to stand still and keep my eyes open from the sun light. As u can see we managed to get a great shot. In my opinion this was the best out of 5 and the only one that really caught my eye. I used iphoto to edit this photo with some sharpness, definition, and a little color cooling.…See More
