Evergroove Studio Internship Final Week

This week at evergroove definitely topped them all. Running the live recording rig at Mile High Parlay over the weekend was an amazing experience in itself. It was very interesting to be a part of all the planning that goes into such an event as well. not only was I running the recording rig but I was also setting up tents hauling gear and at the end of the event I assisted with tearing down the stage which is an experience that I've never had before. all in all I had a great time doing it and…See More

Internshipping Final Week

I finished up my internship hours this weekend at Bocca Live, officially wrapping up 75 hours of hands-on experience working one-on-one with the club's audio engineers. During my time at the club as an official audio intern, I was responsible for assisting with any and all of the various tasks that arise for an audio engineer over any given period of time. First and foremost, this included residing over the soundboard, a task that my time at HC School of Music helped to prepare me for. Like any…See More

WLCI Internship Week 5 & 6

Last week the Keith fest took place at The Union, Athens, OH. A group of people from WLCI (me included) were there in order to help organize this. At first our main responsibility was to receive artists and load their equipment swiftly. After that our job was to shoot the whole thing. Events like these helps me to learn a lot from video recording. How to get neat shots, lighting issues, basic rules that need to be follow, and others. I'm finding myself more and more interested on this video…See More

WLCI INternship Week 6

This week was simply about pumping out 80's radio shows.  I was able to have 3 total completed by the end of class this week.  I will have at least a fourth if not a fifth done by the start of class next week. With a streamlined method of making radio shows, they really can be completed pretty efficiently.See More

WLCI Internship Week 4-5

Last week consisted of meeting with Scott privately to discuss the exact parameters of the internship, as well as what is expected for completion.  We also went through the most efficient way to produce radio shows in GarageBand so that they can be completed easiest.  I was assigned a certain number of 80's Radio Shows to complete, as well as a certain number of genre specific shows to complete. This week I obtained the 80's Radio Show files, and began compiling my first radio show.  Using the…See More

Evergroove Studio Internship week #1

It is my first week working here at Evergroove Studio in Evergreen CO, and needless to say I am very excited to be here. Right from the beginning I have become extremely involved in the studio and I have already sat in on three different sessions. So far I am learning a lot about session workflow and how important organization is in order to have a session run smoothly. Brad Smalling, who is the owner of the studio, has taught me a great deal about editing in the first week as well as some more…See More

Stuart's Opera House Internship - Week 4

Becoming involved with Stuart's has been a great experience so far and I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity. The duties and hands-on experience have lead me to understand more and more about how concert promotion and music marketing works. This week's tasks began with three concert posters that needed to be distributed for four upcoming events in mid and late July. In order to make sure Athens and Nelsonville were covered with material early within the week, I tried to move as quickly as…See More

WLCI Internship Week 4

It's the fourth week on my internship at WLCI. I've done a great deal of video editing for the last couple weeks. I'm actually getting pretty good at using Sony Vegas Pro. I'm thinking on taking some kind of video program to further my expertise. Though I've been doing a lot of video editing, there is still a lot of footage left from the Nelsonville Music Festival, so there's a lot of work left to do.Not only I've been learning video editing, but also thanks to the Live From Studio A sessions,…See More

Evergroove Studio Internship Week #5

Last weekend was Evergroove's 8th birthday party, which was an absolute blast. Come Monday morning though it was straight back to work preparing for the big event of the month, The Underground Music Showcase. Evergroove is sponsoring an event during UMS called Mile High Parlay at a venue called Mutiny Information Cafe in downtown Denver. Mile High Parlay is actually its own separate festival from UMS and is a free event. I have been informed that I will be…

Evergroove Studio Internship Week #4

It's been an extremely busy month at Evergroove Studio, This week has been one of my favorite weeks so far however due to the sheer hustle and bustle of the whole thing. Many tasks were tackled this week including two live broadcasts on Ustream, one of which was with a killer band named Jeff Crosby & The Refugees who have had two songs on the show Sons of Anarchy. My favorite of the two was a band that goes by the name of Play On Brother which is a project started by Alan Evans…

Evergroove Studio Internship Week #3

This week we began planning for Evergroove's 8th birthday party which is a big event so a lot of preparation is involved. we had four sessions this week including a recall session for an electronic industrial band called Kill Minus 9. My favorite however had to be a 14 hour session with an alternative country band by the name of Jimbo and The Truckador's who we are currently doing a record for. I have spent the rest of the week outside of sessions mixing crowd samples in to this…
